Bedford County church youth leader arrested over unlawful filming charge - www.roanoke.com

A man who serves as a youth leader at a Bedford County church is facing charges of unlawful filming of a minor.

Auri Christopher Collin Jones, a 28-year-old Lynchburg man, is charged with a felony count of unlawful filming, videotaping or photographing of a minor and a misdemeanor count of the same charge relating to a person over the age of 18. The charge involves filming a nonconsenting person in the nude or in undergarments in a place where they have a reasonable expectation of privacy.

The Bedford County Sheriff's Office, in conjunction with the Southern Virginia Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force, filed the felony charge Wednesday and the misdemeanor charge Thursday.

Capt. Mike Miller said the felony count of filming a minor relates to Jones' role as the youth leader at Mountain View United Methodist Church in Forest.

The misdemeanor charge, according to Miller, stems from Jones' job as an adjunct professor at Lynchburg College.

Authorities said that Jones was also a volunteer on a film called "Finding Faith," that was produced in Bedford County. They have not found any link to criminal activity that occurred during filming of that project.

Miller said the investigation is ongoing and additional charges could be filed against Jones.

Jones was released on bond from the Blue Ridge Regional Jail in Lynchburg.
