a new opinion in Telecommunications about Apple In-Ear Headphones with Remote and Mic

Product Type: Apple headsets

Newest Review:?... you want your earphones to be as light as possible, which these certainly are. This is where the problems begin, the ear buds on ... more

After buying these ear phones for an honestly shameful amount (around ?60) I was expecting something reasonably impressive from Apple, as is usually the case with their products. I bought these earphones as a replacement for a broken pair of Sennheiser earphones which were extremely good in my opinion, for some reason I decided to try something different and these are the result of that risk.

Honestly, if you are familiar with the iPod earphones Apple give out free with their products you will know what these feel like in terms of quality. Plastic, very plastic. They aren't especially impressive on the build quality front but ultimately you want your earphones to be as light as possible, which these certainly are. This is where the problems begin, the ear buds on these earphones are awful. The design is terrible and I have lost over five of them from general daily use! They appear to be too smooth with no prevention inside the buds themselves to stop them from simply falling off, this is a massive irritant as the earphones themselves are quite good. Unfortunately they only come packaged with 3 sets of different sized earphones, which simply isn't enough when they fall off constantly. This has led me to buying a small bag of replacements from Amazon leading me to believe this is a common problem with these earphones especially.

The sound quality from these earphones is top notch, there is almost no noise (crackling and white noise type sound) when playing loud music and every type of music I have thrown at them has been dealt with magnificently. The bass provided by these earphones is also quite impressive which is something which is not normally found in earphones generally (of course, maybe I just buy the cheap ones) but I am always confident that these earphones will deliver in terms of bass especially. These earphones also have a small volume control panel on the wire itself, this is a very useful feature for when you're commuting to work and your phone is in your pocket. This small panel also contains a microphone which can be used when you receive a phone call, this means you don't have to suffer the inconvenience of removing the earphones from your device. The microphone also appears to be fairly effective in practice, with many a call having been successful while on the bus home from University. Of course these earphones are also in ear, meaning many will be expecting some form of noise cancellation, and they are decent in this regard too. Sometimes with this addition, the sound from the earphones escapes in to the open ear (causing some annoyed looks from other people). I can say that these earphones manage to remain free of that problem.

Overall I would certainly recommend these earphones, as long as you're willing to deal with the run away earbuds packaged with them!

Summary: Good sound, poor design
